Hepatitis C Strategy 2000-2003

Abstract:

South East Health has the highest number of notifications of Hepatitis C infection in NSW, comprising 18% of the State’s total notifications.   The surveillance, prevention and treatment of Hepatitis C represent major challenges for the Area.

 

The Hepatitis C Strategy was developed by the HIV/AIDS and Related Diseases Unit with considerable input from relevant service providers and advisory agents. It provides information and direction on a broad range of initiatives to address the disease. These include:

·           Descriptive factors related to Hepatitis C

·           The prevalence of Hepatitis C in SE Health’s general population and specific target groups

·           A Profile of Hepatitis C services in the Area

·            Key Strategic Directions

·           Planning Issues and Recommendations

·           Funding and Evaluation Plans

·           Hepatitis C Strategies for 2000-2003
